Podium Facade

avenue K's podium facade study and K Residence tower's randomized screens have been a year long design development undertaken and executed by ZLG. Today the aluminum facade is underway to being completed by Shinwa Metals of Malaysia, and the podium is open to retailers and shoppers. The Tower has commenced construction. ZLG designed all 19 different and unique plan types for this luxury serviced residences, and apartments, due for completion sometime in 2007.

AquaCity

This is an image that we use to illustrate ZLG's focus on executing concepts which are ultra-zonic,meaning explorations of territory outside the realm of mainstream building typology. Whilst our interests lie in architecture we also feel consistently attracted to investigating realms of architecture in new environments, in this case the seas of East Malaysia, a project to generate offshore communities some two hundred miles off the coast of Sabah.

Minimalist Office

Derek WONG offices is now Bang & Olufsen new Headquarters, located in Kuala Lumpur. Minimalist Designs, using wood as primary element material.

Bamboo Canopies

Study of the external blocks housing the bathrooms and the toilets: Materials are used to preserve the natural feel of the site, and also to enhance visual porosity of the scheme. Thin black metal columns and similarly appointed handrails and balusters are placed in strategic locations to give this BOH Visitor Centre a light feeling, with high ceilings and bamboo finished canopies promote the tropical ambiance of the entire project.

Random Logs

BOH Visitor Center in Cameron Highlands' wall elements are composed of naturally found fallen trees in the environs, whose logs are then located into metal framed windows that line the entire 140m length of the building, providing a visually pleasing facade design that works as a sun screen.

Bukit Ceylon

A project with intention to make a medium-sized building a sort of work of art by simply deploying an unusual texture to one face of the facade, thereby unlimited by the interior arrangement, and does not deploy any identification, other than its formal external shape. Apartment design is complete with elevated pool, perched on a very steep sloped site, accessible from Changkat Bukit Bintang.

Spotty Facade

BOH's new Visitor Center in Cameron Highlands will set a new tone for Malaysian architecture, we hope countrywide. It should represent the first building [of its kind utilizing entirely natural finishes and raw materials in a big way, and also as cladding and envelope elements in an unusual way. This project has taken no more than just over a year to complete for not too much money, mainly because of the architect's commitment to use only the most economic and affordable materials and low energy design and technology. The building however has been constructed to the highest possible standards to meet with the sometimes very harsh weather conditions of Cameron Highlands. Designed to be naturally ventilated, the BOH Visitor Center is a totally new retail and showroom concept for a visitor facility, having been planned to work linearly for circulation, promising a unique visual and audio experience for visitors who will be presented with soem quite awesome views of the vast tea estate in this beautiful highland location of Malaysia.

avenueK's Escalator Lights

avenue K' lighting concept is minimalist, preserving a prestine and luxurious ambience to this museum like interior. Set to enhance the city's shopping experience, making a reality of a project destined to change mainstream retail and shopping.

Probably KL's most avant-garde signature building, ZLG's project team led some 16 consultants worldwide to execute this project. Built entirely within a space of 2 years from when the project was first abandoned some 8 years before ZLG's appointment, the interior is now ready for a major fit-out coordinated by ZLG, with support from management consultants and retail planners from Singapore and Hong Kong.

BOH Visitor Centre

BOH Visitor Centre is ZLG's latest completed work, designed to provide extensive visitor facilities and leisure programs in Malaysia's Cameron Highlands Tea Estate. Opened since last September 2005, this 140m long building is naturally ventilated, and is constructed almost entirely of natural materials, amongst others, wood and logs and stones collected in the vicinity of the site.

Hotel Capitol

Capitol Hotel is one of ZLG's very early projects [1994], designed for 260 business class hotel suites, with a completely "no-frills" interior concept. The Hotel has seen 70% occupancy from day one. Located in the central district of Kuala Lumpur, and built under 24 months of design and documentation. Today it remains one of KL's most popular hotel, presenting itself as a simple modern and minimalist building, promising an evergreen style totally devoid of any decoration or embellishment of mainstream designs for this building type. It remains as one of ZLG's most successful project.

Saigon Pearl

Saigon Pearl is probably the first mixed Retail development with themed forest concept experience. This is a 350,000 sqft shopping experience set in an premium real estate [sought after location facing the Saigon River]. Originally designed and conceived in collaboration with Surbana International Consultants Pte Ltd of Singapore. A presentation was made to Vietnamland and Investors last Saturday 5th November 2005. This is one of three series of work around ZLG themed Retail Parks. Two other sites, for Kenny Heights parcel 4 and also for the forthcoming parcel in India [watch this space] will be developed later in the next year.
